Unable to enter anything in the text area of an article - version 9.1

  • I have just returned to maintaining my association's Zeta Producer website after a break of 2 years. I have been able to open the website project and view everything, but I cannot enter anything into the text editing area of any articles. I can select text and change the format of the text or add a hyperlink, and I can add an image. But when I click anywhere in the text area all the formatting buttons go grey and it won't accept any keyboard input. I have tried several different projects, but have the same problem with them all.

Update...I've just found that I can Paste text here, and copy and paste (but only using the Ctrl keys, the buttons on the editor are not functional). And I can't see a cursor to know where I'm pasting. I've just spoken to the previous user of this website and she said she also experienced odd problems, but not this one.

I am using ZP 9.1 Desktop (licensed) on Windows 7. I am using the same hardware as when I last used Zeta.

Should I upgrade to Version 10? I wanted to get the website stable on version 9 before upgrading, but if that would solve this problem, I'm willing to try it. Sorry if this question has been asked and answered, but I cannot understand German and couldn't find the English language support forum.

  • I have just downaloded Version 10 as I thought that might solve my problem. I created a new website project and I can edit text within articles in that version. Howevee, I can't open my version 9 project in version 10, I get an error that: "The file 'template.xml' could not be found under the proposed path" I have tried finding the instructions for upgrading projects, but I can only find the instructions in German.
Could you please point me to where the instructions are in English? There used to be a page with this information in English and also a support forum in English, but I can't find those either.

I hope you can help, I've been a Zeta Producer user for many years, have paid for a licence and would like to continue using it.

  • FIXED! I gave up on my previous website and restored from my version 9 backup to a new project. I then found and translated the instructions for which files needed to be moved (project and layout files) and where to move them to, and then I was able to open and convert my project in Version 10.

It would still be good to know if there are any instructions in English besides the user manual. I guess you're all just waking up in Germany :)
    Cheers,
    Lesley

  • I had to upgrade to version 10 to fix my editing articles problem, but now I'm getting the "Zeta Producer freeware" mesage on my website. I had paid for the previous Desktop version. Could you please tell me how I get the new version 'licensed'?

(Sorry if this is covered somewhere on the German website or forums, but I can't find this information on the English website.)

  • Hello Lesley,

your license for the version 9 is not valid for the version 10!
(You must to buy a new license for 10).

    http://www.zeta-producer.com/en/shop.html

But you can to try this:

Open a Projekt > Website > Darstellung konfigurieren > Sichtbarkeit > Häckchen weg bei "Erstellt mit Zeta Producer"
    in der Fußzeile anzeigen.

Sorry, i am working with the german version, and i dont`think the english words at the moment.
(But i hope you find it?..)

Edit: This here says the Google-Translate:
Open a project> website> Appearance> Configure visibility> tick off "Created with Zeta Producer" at
    View in the footer.

    Best regards.

  • Dear Jochen

Many thanks for your response - and in English, thank you!

What is the 'upgrade' price? I can only see prices for new purchases on the English site. I don't want to go back to version 9 because I couldn't edit articles there. Also, I had an edition which allowed me 80 pages in version 9 - I can't see that edition anymore. Sorry for all my questions, but it has been 2 years since I used Zeta Producer.

  • Hi Lesley,

sorry, i dont know the english update price.

But you can ask directly Zeta-Software.
    Write to: info@zeta-producer.com

PS: Do you have the latest version of ZP9 last used (9.5.0.0)?
The Problem with "editing Articles" is in this Version fixed!

    Jochen

    Gruß
    Jochen
